Calculate your scenario
Total bases = 1B + 2 × 2B + 3 × 3B + 4 × HR.
Your inputs
Default worked example. Edit the inputs to calculate your scenario.
Default worked example
SLG = (100 + 2×30 + 3×3 + 4×20) ÷ 550 at-bats = 249 ÷ 550 = .453; OBP = 208 ÷ 609 = .342.
How to use the calculator
Enter singles, doubles, triples and home runs, then at-bats that did not produce a hit (at-bats minus hits). Add walks, hit-by-pitch and sacrifice flies for OBP and OPS.
What the result means
With 153 hits for 249 total bases in 550 at-bats, the hitter slugs .453, bats .278, gets on base at .342 and has an OPS of .794.
Formula and units
Total bases = 1B + 2 × 2B + 3 × 3B + 4 × HR. At-bats = hits + at-bats without a hit. SLG = total bases ÷ at-bats; AVG = hits ÷ at-bats; ISO = SLG − AVG. OBP = (H + BB + HBP) ÷ (AB + BB + HBP + SF); OPS = OBP + SLG. ISO and OPS use unrounded values, then everything shows to three decimals in the usual .xxx style.
Worked examples
Full season: 153 hits in 550 at-bats: Singles: 100 1B; Doubles: 30 2B; Triples: 3 3B; Home runs: 20 HR; At-bats without a hit (AB − H: outs, errors, fielder’s choices): 397 at-bats; Walks (for OBP): 50 BB; Hit by pitch (for OBP): 5 HBP; Sacrifice flies (for OBP): 4 SF.
Example result: Slugging percentage (SLG): .453; Total bases: 249; Batting average (AVG): .278; Isolated power (ISO): .175; On-base percentage (OBP): .342; OPS (OBP + SLG): .794.
Short season: 40 hits in 100 at-bats: Singles: 25 1B; Doubles: 8 2B; Triples: 1 3B; Home runs: 6 HR; At-bats without a hit (AB − H: outs, errors, fielder’s choices): 60 at-bats; Walks (for OBP): 12 BB; Hit by pitch (for OBP): 1 HBP; Sacrifice flies (for OBP): 2 SF.
Example result: Slugging percentage (SLG): .680; Total bases: 68; Batting average (AVG): .400; Isolated power (ISO): .280; On-base percentage (OBP): .461; OPS (OBP + SLG): 1.141.
Limitations and common mistakes
Uses the standard official-scoring definitions; walks, hit-by-pitch and sacrifice flies affect only OBP and OPS, and sacrifice bunts and catcher’s interference are excluded. Because ISO and OPS come from unrounded values, they can differ by .001 from subtracting or adding the rounded figures.
Counting a home run as one base in total bases, or entering total hits in the singles box, which double counts extra-base hits.
