Calculate your scenario

Film area = measured coverage area × (1 + waste %).

Default worked example

Price with markup $4,115.31
Film length 57.5 linear ft (287.5 sq ft incl. waste)
Rolls to buy 1 × 150 ft rolls
Material cost $1,365.63
Labor cost $1,500.00
Total cost $3,165.63

250 sq ft × 1.15 = 287.5 sq ft ÷ 5 ft width = 57.5 linear ft; cost $1,365.63 material + $1,500.00 labor + $300.00 design = $3,165.63; × 1.3 = $4,115.31.

How to use the calculator

Measure each panel to be covered and enter the total area, the roll width and length, a waste allowance, how your film is priced, laminate price (0 if none), design fee, labor hours and rate, and your markup.

What the result means

250 sq ft of coverage with 15% waste needs 287.5 sq ft, or 57.5 linear ft of 60-inch film — one 150-ft roll. Film, laminate, 20 labor hours and the design fee cost $3,165.63; a 30% markup prices the job at $4,115.31.

Formula and units

Film area = measured coverage area × (1 + waste %). Linear feet = film area ÷ (roll width in inches ÷ 12). Rolls = linear feet ÷ roll length, rounded up. Film cost = film area × price per sq ft, or whole rolls × roll price. Laminate = film area × laminate price. Total cost = film + laminate + labor hours × rate + design fee; price = total cost × (1 + markup %).

Limitations and common mistakes

No vehicle templates or market prices are built in: measure the panels you will cover (or use the film maker’s template for the exact vehicle) and enter your own supplier and labor rates. Panel shapes, seams and pattern matching can need more waste than a flat allowance; prep, removal of old film and repairs are not included. Markup is applied to the whole cost, not a margin on price.

Dividing coverage area by roll width without a waste allowance: wraps need bleed around every panel and relief cuts, so a zero-waste estimate runs short.
