How to use the calculator

Enter positive quantity and buy price, sale price, both fee rates and fixed costs. Choose one currency and optionally a sale-price tick.

What the result means

Compare gross price gain with net gain after both sides of the transaction and other entered sale costs.

Formula and units

Outlay = q × buy price × (1 + buy rate/100) + buy fixed fee. Net proceeds = q × sale price × (1 − sell rate/100) − sell fixed fee − other sale costs. Net profit = proceeds − outlay. Break-even sale price = (outlay + sell fixed fee + other costs)/(q × (1 − sell rate/100)); selected ticks round the required sale price upward.

Limitations and common mistakes

Simple unleveraged securities trade with percentage-on-notional and fixed transaction fees only. Enter all amounts in one currency. Examples are illustrative. No live quotes, execution, recommendations, leverage, derivatives, recurring fund fees, taxes or automatic exchange schedules. Entered charges may omit actual broker costs; this is not a market-specific complete fee calculation.

Subtracting only the buy commission or calculating return on the share purchase value while ignoring buy fees in the cash outlay.
